My most worn and most comfortable watch. Jaeger-LeCoultre built the Master Ultra Thin to be exactly what its name promises: thin, elegant, effortless. I dislike thick watches, and this one sits so lightly I forget it is there. If I could keep only one, the conversation would start here.

The story

How it found me

I first saw this watch at the Shops at Wailea in Maui with my wife. We were engaged, not yet wealthy, and I couldn't afford anything in the store. I hadn't invested in a proper watch yet and didn't know a brand beyond Rolex, but I fell in love with the thin automatic case, the clean eggshell face, and the quiet luxury this watch embodied. Just shy of a decade later, after following the watch wherever I could, I was in Las Vegas celebrating life with my brother. A strong glass of Jameson and a sales clerk at The Forum Shops willing to negotiate, and the search was over.
