A 1955 Oyster Perpetual, the elder of the collection, in yellow gold and steel with the honeycomb dial by Stern Freres. Time-only, quietly beautiful, from the acrylic-crystal era when the Oyster case was still finding the shape it would keep for generations. Wearing something this old is a large part of why I collect.
Nothing here is listed for sale. If a piece speaks to you, it is a conversation.
How it found me
I was hunting for a watch from my dad's birth year of 1956 and wanted a honeycomb dial by Stern Freres. I love the texture and how beautiful they are up close. Alfredo at Tumi Time had recently taken this one in from an estate where the cost of the service exceeded the family's budget. It's one year off, but the authentic replacement Rolex strap and buckle he put on it make it special to me. Most men don't wear a 34mm watch; I don't care what most men think. I love that I can wear it when I need to be the most understated person in the room and it goes unnoticed. And I love that it reminds me how old my father would be if he were still alive.
